Maison Mermont is European Luxury, Personally Curated, and Custom Made for the American Designer.

Didier Curvat, founder. A Lifetime of European Design, Now at Your Service
Born and raised in Lyon, France, Didier Curvat grew up immersed in the rich design traditions of Europe, the elegance of French interiors, the warmth of Belgian craftsmanship, and the timeless beauty of Italian form. That early exposure shaped a lifelong passion for sophisticated, serene design characterized by simplicity, elegance, and exceptional quality.
After moving to the United States, Didier began his career as an antiques dealer specializing in French, Belgian, Italian, and Swedish antiques, developing the discerning eye and deep appreciation for provenance that would define everything to come. In 2012, he founded a design-focused firm in Westport, Connecticut, serving interior designers, architects, and hospitality professionals with exquisite furniture, lighting, and accessories sourced from Europe and crafted in the USA.
Over more than two decades in the industry, Didier has built an extraordinary network of artisans, workshops, and design houses across Europe and beyond, traveling extensively through France, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, and as far as Thailand to discover makers whose work embodies the perfect balance of artistry and craftsmanship. His custom furniture line became a resource for some of the country’s most respected designers, including a number of Architectural Digest’s Top 100.
Maison Mermont: The Next Chapter
Maison Mermont was born from a simple conviction: some unfamiliar but outstanding European furniture and lighting brands deserve a home in the American market, and the designers who seek them deserve a trusted, knowledgeable partner to bring those pieces across the Atlantic.
The name itself reflects this vision. Mermont is a fusion of the French words for Sea (Mer) and Mountain (Mont), a nod to the diverse interiors we furnish, from coastal retreats to mountain residences, and to the journey our pieces make from European ateliers to American interiors.
We offer a carefully curated collection of luxury furniture and lighting from European makers, many of them French and Portuguese, who are not otherwise represented in the United States. These are not mass-produced items found in every showroom. Each piece is selected for its design integrity, material quality, and the story of the hands that made it. We also offer a collection of custom-made pieces, including hand-cast bronze works crafted by artisans in Thailand, allowing our clients to commission something truly one of a kind.
Built for the Design Professional
At its heart, Maison Mermont is built for the way interior designers and architects actually work. With 20 years of experience operating a showroom and collaborating directly with trade professionals, Didier understands the realities of project timelines, specification needs, and the importance of having a responsive, knowledgeable resource on the other end of the line.
Our trade program offers dedicated support, competitive pricing, and access to customization options, because we know that the right piece for a project often needs to be the right size, the right finish, or the right material. Most of our collection can be tailored to meet your specifications, ensuring each piece fits your vision perfectly.
Whether you are a designer seeking that singular chandelier for a client’s foyer, an architect specifying barstools for a hospitality project, or a homeowner with a passion for European design, we invite you to explore our collection and experience the difference that personal expertise and genuine curation can make.
Our Promise
Every piece in our collection reflects Didier’s signature approach: clean lines, timeless craftsmanship, and direct relationships with the makers behind each one. These are not anonymous objects. They come with a provenance, a material chosen with intention, and a story worth telling. That is what we bring to the American market.
